REFRESHING THE TOOLS OF THE TRADE FOR OUR ACTIVE FORMER SKILLS TRAINEES

Sometimes, a fresh set of tools is all it takes to help a livelihood move forward.

In recent weeks, we provided brand-new, high-quality tools and materials to former skills trainees in Taytay and El Nido, Palawan—community members who have successfully turned the skills they learned through our program into sustainable livelihoods.

From 2014 to 2024, our skills development program provided community members with practical, income-generating skills in carpentry, masonry, electrical installation and maintenance, small engine repair, shielded metal arc welding, solar installation, sewing, and grooming and wellness services.

This latest initiative is especially meaningful because the recipients are not simply former trainees—they are active practitioners who continue to use the skills and tools they acquired through the program. The new equipment and materials are intended to help them improve the quality of their work, increase productivity, and strengthen their earning capacity.

We were also grateful for the presence and support of local government leaders who joined us in celebrating this milestone with our beneficiaries.

In Taytay, we were joined by Municipal Mayor Norbert Lim, Vice Mayor Delma Edep, SB Member Alvino Yara, and Municipal Employment Services Manager Rolando Belarmino Jr.

In El Nido, we were joined by Vice Mayor Joel Rosento, SB Members Val Austria and Leonor Corral, and Municipal Employment Services Office Head Cindy Palomar.

These partnerships help ensure that skills development goes beyond training—creating opportunities that communities can build on and sustain.
