Calapan, Oriental Mindoro
—Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) and the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro renewed their memorandum of agreement (MOA) for partnerships in various programs covering marine biodiversity conservation, socio-economic improvement programs, disaster relief and others.

The MOA was signed by Governor Bonz Dolor, MFI President Annabelle Ong and witnessed by provincial agriculturist Christine Pine and MFI Executive Director Karen Agabin.

Preceding the MOA signing, the provincial government gave a token of recognition to MFI for the successful decade-long partnership that resulted in four (4) of marine protected areas (MPA) in Oriental Mindoro winning 1st, 2nd, 3rd place Best-Managed MPA at the prestigious national-level Para El Mar Awards from 2017 to 2023.  The Agsalin Fish Sanctuary in Gloria won 1st place in 2017 while Ranzo Fish Sanctuary landed 2nd place in 2023 and 3rd in 2019.  Putting Cacao MPA in Pola also placed 5th in 2021 while Maasin Fish Sanctuary made 6th place in 2023.
