Malampaya Foundation's (MFI) Young Eco Savers program received a Merit Anvil Award from the Public Relations Society of the Philippines on March 6, 2013 at the 48th Anvil Awards held at Shangri-la Makati.

Young Eco Savers is a solid waste management program promoting waste segregation and recycling among schoolchildren in 11 Batangas City schools. Included in the program is the establishment of materials recovery facilities in all participating schools. The program is in line with the city's newly-passed Environmental Code.

Due to the success of the program, it has been integrated in the curriculums of the schools to teach children to be environmentally-conscious at an early age.

MFI Chairman Rufino Bomasang (third from left) receives the Anvil award of Merit. He is joined by MFI Executive Director Karen Agabin (second from left), MFI Program Officer Jemen Pargas, MFI President Sabino Santos, MFI Program Manager Teddy Bolivar and SPEX Communications Mgr Paulo Gavino.
