Malampaya Foundation (MFI) received yet another regional Gawad Kalasag Award, winning Best Civil Society Organization in the search for Excellence in Disaster Risk Reduction and Humanitarian Assistance of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) 4-B.
The accolade is MFI’s fourth recognition and award from the regional Office of Civil Defense, having been commended for its Neighborhood Emergency Services Team program in 2008 and winning Gawad Kalasag awards for Shoreline Communities Onwards to Resiliency program in 2013 and 2014.
The community-based disaster preparedness and management programs capacitate grassroots communities in the management and response to natural and man-made calamities through ladderised trainings and provision of basic safety and rescue gears.
