Taytay, Palawan - The Malampaya Sound Protected Landscape and Seascape (MSPLS) Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) finally approved on August 25, 2015 the 8,000-hectare management zone in the outer MSPLS located in barangays Tumbod and Liminancong.

The establishment of the management zone was proposed in early 2013 by Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) with support from the local communities and barangay local governments in view of unprotected mangrove, seagrass, reef, estuarine, deepwater and muddy and sandy habitats located in the area.

The outer MSPLS is part of MFI’s marine biodiversity conservation program named Barangay Aquatic Habitat and Underwater Regeneration Assistance, which provides full technical, social, logistical, economic and scientific support to communities covered by the program.
