In celebration of its 20th anniversary, Malampaya Foundation, Inc. (MFI) recognized outstanding partners and beneficiaries through its special 20X20 Awards, highlighting excellence in marine conservation, community protection, sustainable enterprise, and education.
A key feature of the celebration is the recognition of exemplary Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and Bantay Dagat groups, which have demonstrated sustained commitment to safeguarding coastal resources. Over the past decade, many of these honorees have also received awards at the provincial, regional, and national levels—affirming their leadership in community-based marine conservation. Some awardees have been MFI’s partner since 2013.

The Foundation also honored recipients of the Outstanding Enterprise for Conservation Projects award. These biodiversity-friendly social enterprises stand out not only for their environmentally responsible practices but also for their strong micro-enterprise models. Notably, they allocate 10–15% of their net profits to fund conservation initiatives within their communities, creating a meaningful link between livelihood and environmental stewardship.

In addition, MFI also celebrated Outstanding Malampaya Sustainable Development Scholars, recognizing individuals who have excelled academically and contributed positively to their communities or society at large. These scholars represent the long-term impact of the Foundation’s investment in education as a driver of sustainable development.

Through the 20X20 Awards, Malampaya Foundation underscores two decades of partnerships and shared achievements, reaffirming its commitment to empowering communities and protecting the country’s rich marine biodiversity for generations to come, biodiversity-friendly enterprises and scholar achievers.
