Malampaya Foundation Inc (MFI), Prime Energy Resources Development and the municipal government of Linapacan, Palawan yesterday signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for partnership in the solar micro-grid electrification of select areas in the municipality.
The municipality of Linapacan is composed of 52 islands with barangays and sitios scattered across south Calamianes. The municipality has experienced power and water supply challenges for decades, aggravated by its archipelagic nature in the midst of wild waters during certain seasons.
The program’s pilot areas identified for electrification in Linapacan are Barangay Cabunlawan and Sitio Binalabag of Barangay San Miguel, utilizing the latest solar power electrification technologies, for a total of some 250+ households.
The MOA was signed by Linapacan mayor Emil Neri, MFI President Annabelle Ong, MFI Executive Director Karen Agabin and Prime Energy Chief Regulatory Officer Giboy Salapantan.
