Conservation Covenant with IP's, LGU and Community Signed

Coron, Palawan - Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) signed a conservation agreement on March 12, 2015 with Bgy. Bulalacao-based Tagbanauas, the local government and MFI-organized community organisation Samahan ng Mangingisda ng Barangay Bulalacao.

The covenant aims to upgrade the management of the recently-established marine protected area (MPA) of Bulalacao, improve enforcement, implement conservation actions on a regular basis and seek to provide alternative livelihoods as incentive for the community organisations, among others.

Installation of fish aggregating devices to serve as markers of the MPA and alternative livelihood followed the covenant signing ceremony.
