Linapacan, Palawan-- The municipal local government of Linapacan, Department of Energy (DOE), Prime Energy Resources Development BV (PERD) and Malampaya Foundation Inc (MFI) inaugurated and turned-over yesterday, June 3, 2025, a community solar micro-grid system on Barangonan Island with annual energy production capacity of more than 67,000kwh for 100+ households.
The inauguration was lead by Linapacan mayor Emil Neri, DOE Senior Engineer Dan Montealegre, PERD President Donnabelle Cruz and MFI Chairman-President Jose Emmanuel Caral.
Barangonan is the 3rd community electrified by MFI via solar power system after Binalabag and Cabunlawan islands, also located in Linapacan, launched in 2024 benefitting some 225 households as part of its missionary electrification program, Tanglaw sa Komunidad.
