A new conservation agreement (CA) was signed on September 17, 2018 by Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) for remote Linapacan community barangay Decabaitot, while two were renewed for the municipality of Coron on September 19, 2018 for barangays Bulalacao and Lajala.

Concepcion, Romblon — A WEmboree camp for youths was held on August 25-27, 2018 at Concepcion, Romblon to inculcate volunteerism and cooperation amongst the Sangguniang Kabataan and other active young members of the community, and develop effective communications and resource mobilization strategies for disaster resiliency.

Puerto Princesa, Palawan — A trial spawning of giant clam species Tridacna squamosa and Hippopus hippopus commenced on 11th of August 2018 at the Western Philippines University (WPU) hatchery located in Binduyan, Puerto Princesa facilitated by trained giant clam breeding technical staff of WPU and the Palawan State University under the supervision of experts from the University of the Philippines Marine Science Institute (U.P. MSI).

El Nido, Palawan — Nearly four days of strong habagat-borne rains combined with high-tides caused severe flooding in different parts of El Nido on July 28-29, 2018, including the town center and areas close to rivers, resulting to some areas going underwater in more than one meter-deep floods.

As classes opened in the month of June, more schoolchildren were educated about basic coastal-marine ecosystem and importance of conservation in North Palawan and Oriental Mindoro public schools through information-education campaigns (IECs).

Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro — Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) together with the provincial government of Oriental Mindoro turned over yesterday, July 20, 2018, a marine protected area volunteer sea ranger (bantay dagat) station in Barangay Banilad, municipality of Pinamalayan.

Capacity-building of bantay dagats (volunteer sea rangers) are continuous in the coastal communities of Isla Verde in Batangas and Oriental Mindoro.

Batangas City, Batangas — Following a pilot medical mission last November 2017 at Isla Verde in Batangas City, a second mission was held on May 25, 2018 by Malampaya Foundation Inc. and its partners, bringing additional services to the remote community with little access to medical services.
