In celebration of its decade-long existence and service to communities in the operating areas of the Malampaya Deepwater Gas-to-Power project, Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) honored its various partners in Batangas, Oriental Mindoro and Palawan through the awarding of a Partnership Appreciation plaque.

MFI was formed and incorporated in December 2005 to serve as the social arm of the Malampaya Joint Venture (JV) partners Shell Philippines Exploration B.V. (SPEX), Chevron Malampaya LLC and the Philippine National Oil Company-Exploration Corporation (PNOC-EC). Its formation strengthens the commitment of the JV partners to contribute towards the sustainable development of communities in its operating areas.

The foundation, composed of board members from SPEX, Chevron Malampaya, PNOC-EC and two independent trustees, espoused the vision, "To promote, foster and encourage sustainable social, environmental and economic development of communities in areas where we operate”.

MFI’s portfolio of environment programs are in marine biodiversity conservation, coastal resource management and community-based waste management, while its social development programs are in enterprise development, skills training and employment generation, disaster preparedness, health, renewable energy, road safety and education.

Among MFI’s awarded programs are Shoreline Communities Onwards to Resiliency (SHORE) which received a Gawad Kalasag award for 2013 performance from the Office of Civil Defense Region 4-A; Young Ecosavers program which received an Anvil Award of Merit in 2013 and Bridging Employment through Skills training (BEST) which received the Shell CEO award in 2012.
